CINNO Research industry information, as we all know, enthusiasts of consumer electronics have long been very fond of using OLED equipment. In terms of vehicles, Continental is now also developing automotive displays equipped with OLED panels. They hope to conquer consumers through the excellent performance of OLED technology itself.

Recently, the technology company has reported that it has obtained the first large order for the production of OLED displays for vehicles from a global car manufacturer, with a total value of approximately 1 billion euros. The order involved is actually a multi-display product equipped with an OLED panel. The multi-display product extends from the driver's area (instrument panel position) to the center console and integrates two screens. In addition, the two screens are glued together with the front curved glass cover through optical glue. According to reports, the final production plan of the product is expected to be in 2023.
"By introducing our multi-display solution based on OLED technology, home movie lovers can now get the same perfect experience in the car. Our OLED display technology once again proves our pioneering position in the digital development of the cockpit. "Dr. Frank Rabe, head of the human-machine interface business unit of Continental Group, said, "Our integrated OLED display can ensure that users ultimately get a first-class experience. At the same time, it also provides automakers with opportunities for further differentiation and personalization. ."
In addition, OLED technology can also provide an aesthetically attractive user experience, mainly because it is a self-luminous technology. Self-luminous means that no backlight is required. Compared with traditional LCD displays, it supports extremely thin and flat unit design. In addition, due to its compact size, this can also greatly increase design freedom.
In fact, the technology also supports more complex shapes and irregular installations of the curved surface of the display. The ultra-narrow bezel of the OLED screen will also make the overall visual effect more perfect and create a satisfactory immersion atmosphere. Because it belongs to the self-luminous technology, this display can perform very good black images, and the correspondingly increased contrast can also improve the outdoor screen readability of the display.
In addition, OLED displays can also provide a very wide color gamut and support the display of high-quality, user-friendly screen content. Thanks to OLED technology, the panel contrast and color diversity can still be consistent without loss within the ultra-wide viewing angle of almost 180 degree , which will greatly enhance the attractiveness of the central control display to passengers.
Due to the self-luminous characteristics of OLED panels, this type of display has very low power consumption and strong endurance. Different from the traditional LED screen, it does not need to be equipped with an energy-consuming backlight component. The OLED panel only needs to illuminate the pixels needed for the current information related to human-computer interaction. Therefore, when displaying the same information content, the OLED solution consumes much less energy than the LCD screen in the traditional car, which can reduce the energy demand of the display.
